Producer Spotlight: Bodegas Pinoso

Bodegas Pinoso

Our buying team are always on the road and in the tasting room, sourcing new additions to add to our ever-growing portfolio. Over the coming months, we will be highlighting some of our new producer partners that we are proud to be working with.

With the warmer weather approaching, although perhaps a little warmer than anticipated following the recent UK heatwave, we have been thinking about the sun-kissed vineyards of Europe.

Based in Alicante in south-eastern Spain, Bodegas Pinoso is a certified organic cooperative founded in 1932, working with local growers across high-altitude vineyards. The winery focuses on indigenous varieties such as Monastrell, alongside international grapes, producing wines that balance ripeness with freshness. Sustainability plays an important role, with organic farming and environmentally responsible practices widely adopted.

Made from a plot of old Airén vines, an indigenous Spanish grape variety, Terrós Blanco is blended with Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Pressing and racking with indigenous yeast fermentations highlights the typical characteristics of the area and allows the aromatic expression to shine. This organic wine is left on its lees for several weeks before bottling. Aromas of ripe peach, apricot, flowers and white pepper lead into flavours of citrus, green apple and a touch of minerality from the region’s limestone soils. An excellent pairing with grilled fish such as sea bass, or alongside tapas and paella.

A single-varietal organic Monastrell from old vines and hand-harvested fruit, Terrós Rosado is made in a direct-press style, giving the wine its delicate pale appearance. Expressive on the nose, with aromas of strawberries, raspberries and soft white peach, the palate is fresh and elegant with good intensity and a long, crisp finish. Terrós Rosado is a versatile wine that can be enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with grilled prawns, octopus or gazpacho.

Made from a blend of Garnacha, Monastrell and Merlot, the organic Terrós Tinto is soft and juicy, with flavours of blackberry, cherry and plum layered alongside spice and subtle herbal notes that reflect Alicante’s warm climate and limestone soils. A perfect match for hearty dishes such as Spanish bean stew, grilled lamb or chorizo dishes.
