Region

Cariñena is a Do (denomination of origin) in northern Spain. Winemaking in the area dates back to at least Roman times, and records from that era confirm that locals drank Cariñena wines mixed with honey. Cariñena is well known for its red wines, most notably Garnacha and white wines from Macabeo grapes.

Producer

Nestled in the historical heart of the village of Cariñena, Bodegas y Viñedos Monfil belongs to one of the oldest wineries of the denomination of origin (D.O.) of Cariñena. Established in 1945, Bodegas y Viñedos Monfil is currently managed by three siblings; Victor, Maria and Ana, who are commited to creating wines of the highest quality.
Tasting Notes
A traditional blend of Garnacha and Tempranillo. Deep ruby in colour with violet reflections, the nose is pronounced with aromas of black fruits and hedgerow. Blackcurrants and cherries burst onto the palate, supported by sweet tannins and a crisp acidity. The juicy black fruit flavours linger on the palate.
Food
Serve with veal or barbeque chicken dishes.
