Region

If you have never tried an English wine before – well now is your opportunity. The vineyards of England are generally located in the warmer southern counties where the milder influences of the gulf stream have an important effect, as our northern hemisphere vineyards need a longer cooler growing season than in Europe to produce top quality grapes. More than 500 vineyards are in production across the UK and bottled annual sales has reached 3 million bottles, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus the most planted varieties.

Producer

Lyme Bay Winery is full of people who are passionate about producing English Wines. Founded 25 years ago in Devon they have produced wines of outstading quality that have won awards from prestigious competitions including the International Wine and Spirit Competition, the Decanter World Wine Awards and many more.
Tasting Notes
The Covepoint Pinot Noir is sourced from the Crouch Valley in Essex, a region of the UK regarded as producing some of the highest quality fruit, with good clonal selection of Dijon and Spatburgunder. The wine opens with vivid aromas of wild raspberry, layered with savoury complexity and a hint of black pepper spice. The palate is well-weighted and finely structured, with soft tannins and a persistent core of ripe cherry fruit. Judicious oak use enhances the wine’s elegance and adds depth, delivering a long, harmonious finish.
Food
Pair with charcuterie, roast lamb or chicken and soft cheeses.
