Region
One of the most famous appellations in Bordeaux due to the amount of well regarded Chateaux, including the first growth Chateau Margaux and the third growth Chateau Palmer. The Margaux appellation is best known for producing supple, perfumed wines, predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon. The distinctive flavours and textures are a direct result of the local loose soils which have a high gravel content and therefore offer excellent drainage, causing vines roots to dig deep to source nutrients and ultimately boosting the quality of the grapes.
Tasting Notes
Château Rauzan-Ségla displays the elegance and precision of great Margaux, combining fragrant fruit with refined structure. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and violet mingle with subtle cedar, graphite and delicate spice. The palate is beautifully balanced, offering layers of cassis, dark cherry and plum alongside silky tannins and fresh acidity. Fine-grained oak adds complexity without overpowering the fruit, while a mineral character brings length and definition. Concentrated yet graceful, the wine finishes long and persistent, revealing notes of dark chocolate, tobacco and spice. A sophisticated Bordeaux with impressive depth, freshness and the capacity to develop beautifully in bottle.
Food
Pairs best with fine cuts of beef, roast duck and other red meats.
