Region

If you have never tried an English wine before – well now is your opportunity. The vineyards of England are generally located in the warmer southern counties where the milder influences of the gulf stream have an important effect, as our northern hemisphere vineyards need a longer cooler growing season than in Europe to produce top quality grapes. More than 500 vineyards are in production across the UK and bottled annual sales has reached 3 million bottles, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus the most planted varieties.

Producer

Pommery & Greno was established in 1836, based in Reims, but it was the highly entrepreneurial Jeanne-Alexandrine Louise Pommery, who in 1858 took over the running of the business after the unexpected death of her husband, that made sure the Pommery name and reputation was internationally recognised. Madame Pommery launched the first commercially successful `Brut` Champagne in history `Pommery Brut Nature 1874’, at a time when champagne was excessively sweetened with sugar.
Tasting Notes
Louis Pommery England Brut Rosé combines the elegance of the Pommery style with the distinctive character of English-grown grapes. Beautifully pale pink, it shows expressive aromas of fresh strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant, complemented by delicate floral and citrus notes. The palate is vibrant and finely textured, with refreshing acidity, a delicate mousse and a long, crisp finish.
Food
Ideal as an aperitif or paired with smoked salmon, seafood, charcuterie and light summer dishes.
