Region

The town of Bergerac lies on the Dordogne river, just to the east of the limit of Bordeaux vineyard, a region that it closely resembles. Much of the red wines are blended from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot and the whites from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

Producer

Since its creation in 2008, Couleurs d’Aquitaine has become one of the largest cooperative wine merchants in Southwest France and the leading wine merchant in the Bergerac area. Behind this name stands a union built around three historic cooperative wineries in Dordogne made up of 270 families, whose key objective is to promote and sustainably develop Bergerac wines in France and on export markets. Certified organic they care about producing the best quality under one banner with their group winemaker Valérie Valmy.
Tasting Notes
Named after the cultural figure Cyrano de Bergerac, the flamboyant character, a fictional hero that is emblematic with the history of the town. This wine embodies the wit, and generocity of the town of Bergerac, which are known for their easy drinking blends. This is a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon, both undergoing a small amount of skin contact to give more texture to the body and preserve some of the characterful aromas and flavours. Fermented in steel in controlled temperatures. A lovely aromatic nose, with notes of lemon, grapefruit, white flowers, with a delicate palate, and very crisp acidity.
Food
This is a perfect pair for shellfish, such as oysters, scallops, grilled prawns as well as creamy poultry dishes.
