Region

From the expanding suburbs of the City of Bordeaux, the region of Graves stretches south to the town of Langon with the sub-region of Pessac-Leognon considered superior quality. It produces earthy, mineral rich red wines that reflect the gravelly soils. The classic white wines blend Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc varieties, which are given added richness by a period of oak maturation.

Producer

The Domaines de la Parrhèsia is made up of two estates. including Château Le Tuquet, whose chartreuse dates back to the 18th century with charming agricultural buildings and plans for renovation in 2026. Hidden from view, this château produces expressive and characterful wines that the new owners, Delphine and Guillaume Journel have worked hard to achieve with restructuring and replanting while encouraging biodiversity to support the vines. Ideally located, the vineyards are nestled among woods and clearings on the renowned Graves soils, where gravel and pebbles blend with sand, silt, and clay. This allows for bold, intense, and profound red wines, alongside white wines of great finesse.
Tasting Notes
An expressive example of white Graves, made entirely from Semillon which has been aged on its lees for 9 months in steel. Intense flavours and aromas of white peach and nectarine as well as some other characteristics such as garden flower notes, with a delicious acidity that brings tension and vibrancy. The palate reveals a refined and textured and mineral, saline profile that enhances the wine on the finish.
Food
Served best with delicate white fish, seabass or bream, with asparagus and samphire or shellfish like scallops.
