Region

The Côte de Nuits follows a narrow strip of red iron-rich soils that run the short distance south from Dijon to the town of Nuits St Georges and ends before the hill of Corton. It is perhaps the source of the greatest and most elusive Pinot Noir wines of Burgundy. To travel through this northern half of the Côte d`Or evokes a role call of great vineyard names; Gevrey, Vosne Romanée, Clos de Vougeot, Musigny, Nuits St Georges and more. Here in the Côte de Nuits the best vineyards lie along a narrow band of limestone slopes facing south-east to maximise exposure to the sun. Lower-lying vineyards with more clay drain less well and tend to produce less exciting wine.

Producer

The founder and owner of the winery, David Moret, began his involvement in the wine industry at a relatively early age. He pursued his studies in oenology and viticulture and after graduating, he wanted to set up his distinct vineyards as soon as possible. However, David’s dream got thwarted because he lacked a family domaine. Nevertheless, David continued his career and pursuit into winemaking by buying several grape varieties from other sources to vinify them. It allowed him to make several connections, friendships, and associations in the district of Côte de Beaune. It helped David later when he bought his first wine barrels in the late 90s and later when David Moret was established in 2000. Since the beginning, the winery has produced top-tier white wines in taste, quality, and standard.
Tasting Notes
David Moret’s Chambolle-Musigny is an elegant and perfumed Pinot Noir, showing the delicate, silky character associated with the appellation. Fragrant aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry are complemented by violet, rose petal and subtle spice. The palate is refined and supple, with fine tannins and vibrant acidity giving structure to the generous fruit. Earthy and savoury nuances emerge with time, leading to a graceful, persistent finish marked by freshness and finesse.
Food
Pairs well with duck, game birds and roasted meats.
