Region

If you have never tried an English wine before – well now is your opportunity. The vineyards of England are generally located in the warmer southern counties where the milder influences of the gulf stream have an important effect, as our northern hemisphere vineyards need a longer cooler growing season than in Europe to produce top quality grapes. More than 500 vineyards are in production across the UK and bottled annual sales has reached 3 million bottles, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus the most planted varieties.

Producer

In 2008, two old friends - Nicholas Coates and Christian Seely shared an idea to start their own vineyard, a long time dream realised between the two of them as they shared careers in finance and winemaking. They were drawn to the ancient chalk downlands of Hampshire in Southern England, to a secluded valley nestling quietly in the hills where the soils and south facing slopes presented an ideal terroir. 10 years later in 2017 they were voted Best Overall Wine, Best Sparkling Wine, Best Blanc de Blancs and Best Sparkling Rose in the UK wine awards and have since been picking up a fantastic reputation.
Tasting Notes
Produced in the traditional method this English Sparkling Brut Reserve has 3 years of ageing on the lees, blended with 3 prior vintage reserve wines and only released after 12 months on cork. Fragrant and floral on the nose, the palate has notes of orange zest, citrus, white blossom and fresh green apple, with autolytic characters of bread dough. The creamy mousse is well balanced by a crisp and fresh acidity.
Food
Perfect as an aperitif or alongside hors d`oeuvres or smoked salmon salads.
