Region

Pyrenees is a wine-producing region in the western part of Victoria, near the southern coast of Australia. Dotted with high-quality boutique wineries, the region is known for its cool-climate styles of Shiraz, as well as sparkling wines made in the traditional style from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It is named for the Pyrenees mountain range in Europe, as early settlers thought that the hills here resembled those that separate France and Spain.

Producer

Pyren is situated on an isolated patch of earth surrounded by state forest, farmland and the ever changing sky. Planted in 1999, established by brothers Brian & Kevyn Joy, and currently operated day to day by Graeme Miles in the Vineyard, and Leighton Joy in the winery. Pyren is farmed using organic principles. The house style is to meld the expression of very high quality fruit with integrity and artistic freedom. The endeavour to fine tune the best style for Pyren`s fruit is a continuous one that knows no bounds.
Tasting Notes
A fantastic Pet Nat made from a blend of Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc free run juice which is fermented with wild yeast and then the juice of Pinot Gris is added to re-ignite fermentation for those lovely fresh bubbles. Bright pink on appearance with fresh crisp apple aromas. The lively mousse is accompanied by notes of crisp watermelon, guava, dragon fruit and pomegranate for an intense yet dry palate.
Food
Perfect served chilled as an aperitif or perfect in the sunshine with strawberries.
