Region

Saint-Émilion and Pomerol sit next to each other on the right bank of Bordeaux. Saint-Émilion is home to some of the most prestigious wines in the world such as Cheval Blanc and Angelus. Only red wine qualifies for the appellation and is predominately made from Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Pomerol is located in the east of the Bordeaux region, near Saint-Émilion. While most appellations are named after a village or town within their boundaries, Pomerol has no such epicentre. Pomerol is an 800ha gravel bank with boasts the famous names of Petrus and Le Pin and produces wines made predominantly out of Merlot.

Producer

The Tour du Cauze is located to the east of the Saint Emilion plateau. The current chateau was built in 19th century on the ruins of a medieval castle. The estate has been owned by the Laporte family since 1986, they also own the neighbouring Chateau Cauze, another Grand Cru.
Tasting Notes
This extraordinary wine exhibits very ripe fruit, intense aromas of redcurrant, blackberry and spicy notes. The tannins are silky and combine with a lingering black cherry and coffee finish. It is full bodied and supple on the palate with a gentle touch of oak giving depth and structure.
Food
Will partner roast meats, game, beef Wellington and a great match for a selection of strong cheeses.
