Region

The Northern Rhone region follows the Rhône River as it flows south of Lyon. Best known and suited for the Syrah variety shown in the great red wines of Crozes Hermitage and St Joseph, whilst the often perfumed and powerful white wines are made from the fragrant Viognier of Condrieu and the complex Marsanne and Roussanne blends created in the rare whites of Hermitage, Crozes and St Joseph.

Producer

Originally the Desmeure family were typical Rhône Valley fruit growers, their granite rich farmland planted to orchards. Just 4ha of vines were cultivated at Domaine des Remizières and the harvest sold to the famous Cave Coop in Tain. In 1977 the decision was taken by the Philippe Desmeure to produce and bottle everything themselves. Now under third generation oenologist Emilie and viticulturist Christophe, sister and brother, the domaine has grown to encompass 36ha of vineyard including prime sites of Crozes Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas and Saint Joseph farmed using organic practices. The Domaine was awarded with a High Environmental Value Certification (HVE) which recognises the work they do to respect the environment and biodiversity in the vineyard.
Tasting Notes
The vines for this Vin de Pays Viognier are planted on the border of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. Perfumed notes of elderflower, acacia, honeysuckle burst onto the palate with ripe apple and peach notes. An aromatic wine with a fresh, balancing acididty and a long finish.
Food
Serve with mildly sppiced asian dishes such as korma, thai green curry or pad thai.
