Region

Pyrenees is a wine-producing region in the western part of Victoria, near the southern coast of Australia. Dotted with high-quality boutique wineries, the region is known for its cool-climate styles of Shiraz, as well as sparkling wines made in the traditional style from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It is named for the Pyrenees mountain range in Europe, as early settlers thought that the hills here resembled those that separate France and Spain.

Producer

Pyren is situated on an isolated patch of earth surrounded by state forest, farmland and the ever changing sky. Planted in 1999, established by brothers Brian & Kevyn Joy, and currently operated day to day by Graeme Miles in the Vineyard, and Leighton Joy in the winery. Pyren is farmed using organic principles. The house style is to meld the expression of very high quality fruit with integrity and artistic freedom. The endeavour to fine tune the best style for Pyren`s fruit is a continuous one that knows no bounds.
Tasting Notes
The Litte Ra Ra rouge is an early picked Shiraz with just two hours skin contact that is then pressed. This is then blended with a second parcel of extended maceration, whole bunch Shiraz plus a little Sauvignon Blanc. The resulting wine is a pale ruby colour with notes of cranberries on the nose. The palate is fresh with a crisp acidity and notes of red cherries, raspberries and rosehips. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Food
Can be served lightly chilled with cold meats or salads.
