Region

Pfalz region of southern Germany is warmer than the Mosel and ripens a wider variety of varietals. The region has a long history of wine dating back to Roman times. Its wines tend to be fuller in weight and intensity than most German wine. It is planted with Riesling, Muller Thurgau and increasing amounts of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Producer

The tradition at the Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Estate in Wachenheim dates back to 1597, it is one of the largest and most important estates in Germany. The total vineyard area is 85 ha, a treasure trove of top-rated vineyard sites in the unique landscape of the Mittelhaardt, and it is here that the highest quality Rieslings are produced in harmony with nature, to achieve this, the entire vineyard area was converted to biodynamics in 2005. This ensures that the diversity and depth of the terroir can be mirrored and presented perfectly the wines. The Estate has always been considered to be a pioneer and trailblazer for change in German viticulture. Bettina Bürklin-von Guradze, the oldest daughter of Dr. Albert Bürklin, inherited the Estate from her parents in 1990, and since then has taken the lead at the Estate with her own vision. The passion to respect the inherited resources, and to maintain them for her children and further generations to come is the focal point of all she does..
Tasting Notes
Dr Bürklin-Wolf`s signature riesling made from the estate`s vineyards at the foothills of the Pfalz. This wine has a full, rich bouquet of golden apples, pear and apricot. The stone fruit flavours continue on the palate with a refreshing streak of acidity and strong flavours of lime; the key characteristic of the riesling grape variety.
