Region

The fog influenced Napa Valley is home to many of California’s premium wineries. This famous valley around the natural springs of Oakville, includes the thin strip of soil known as the Rutherford Bench where some of the state’s most highly prized vineyards are planted. It is where great Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are grown and sublime Pinot Noirs from the southern Carneros end of the valley.

Producer

In 1985, the Rafael family bought a piece of land in the then unnamed Oak Knoll District. Initially they commenced business as grape growers, selling to some of Napa`s finest wine producers. However, in 1996 they set up their own brand of Rafael et Fils, focused on creating high quality, single varietal wines from a single vineyard.
Tasting Notes
A deep, inky ruby purple in colour and a classic expression of the varietal; blackcurrant, liqourice, eucalyptus and dark chocolate. The wine is rich and elegant wih a soft, velvety texture, well integrated tannins and a very long finish.
Food
Serve with roast beef, steak or smoky barbecued meats.
