Captain Tom Moore's 100th Birthday Walk for the NHS

99 year old, war veteran, Captain Tom Moore, is aiming to walk a hundred lengths of the back garden (which is 25m in length) before he is 100 years old at the end of the month.

He completed his final lap this morning and has raised an astonishing amount of over 13 million for NHS Charities Together. He had originally wanted to raise £1,000.

What a hero! You can donate to his challenge here.

Ellis Cork Challenge:

We are having a bit of fun amongst the chaos, and challenging our team to the cork challenge. Place a cork on your elbow, with your hand by your shoulder (if you don’t have one, it’s the perfect excuse to open a bottle, or use something else – the limits are endless!) extend your arm and try your best to catch the cork. Send us your videos including any outtakes – as they are often the funniest part. See our Designer, Maria having a go...

Hospitality Action:

Raymond Blanc brought to our attention this fantastic charity. Hospitality Action was established in 1837 and has since offered vital assistance to all who work or have worked within hospitality in the UK. If you want some advice, visit their website and get in touch with them.

Headspace:

Headspace have unlocked a free section of their app, called ‘Weathering the Storm’: A free selection of meditation, sleep and other experiences designed to support you during the current global crisis. Their ‘Walking at Home’ guided exercise could be good to get you moving if you are working at home, or they have a ‘Stress Release’ workout if you fancy something a little more intense. As well as movement they have guided meditation tapes, which can help should you be left feeling a little panicked or overwhelmed.

Painting by Numbers:

Our very own Holly has been practising mindfulness whilst being creative with painting by numbers. She says, “I’ve been painting for less than an hour and my mind has instantly calmed, distracting me from all this craziness”. Have you been painting, drawing or picking up any of your hobbies that may have become a little neglected? Show us, using our #EllisWinesolation.

Charity Boxes:

We recently put together a bunch of charity boxes filled with 12 bottles of wine. These were sold to our staff for £10 each. They flew off the shelves, and we raised a total of £250. We have decided to donate this money to the Trussell Trust, a charity who support a Nationwide network of food banks.

PE with Joe Wicks:

Our Head of Marketing, Rupert took part in this morning’s session, with his two boys and said it was quite a shock to the system!
