Marqués de Riscal is one of the oldest Rioja wineries. Founded in Elciego (Álava) in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga, from the outset it has been a point of reference for both quality and innovation. Pioneering and persevering with Bordeaux winemaking techniques, recognising the potential and helping put Rueda D.O. on the winemaking map in the 1970s and of course the collaboration with Frank Gehry on the winery’s ‘City of Wine’ all bear testament to this trail-blazing philosophy. The winery is still family owned and run to this day.

Ellis Wines’ director, James Ellis says “We are extremely pleased to work with such a prestigious producer not only with a reputation for producing high quality wines but like us, the company is family-owned and run. Working with their portfolio is an exciting prospect and we look forward to building the business in this market.”
