Tasting 2019

We have been busy this February, kicking off the month with our biggest event of the year. On the 5th and 6thFebruary, we held our Annual Tasting at the prestigious Vintners’ Hall.

Producers were invited to attend to showcase their wines to our guests over the two days and we were overwhelmed with their response and eagerness to participate. From Scotland to Australia and Uruguay to Portugal, we had 53 wineries travelling from all over the globe, showing a total of 312 wines.

This year we had a focus on French wines, with some new additions including the biodynamic wines from Domaine des Carabiniers and our new Marselan from Domaine de l’Armet

Other new additions were Musita from Sicily, a’Becketts’s from Wiltshire and three new world wineries – Brookfields from Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand and two South African suppliers, Strandveld from Cape Agulhas and Babylons Peak from Swartland.

Our Spanish agencies Hacienda el Ternero, Bodegas Taron and Resalte de Penafiel returned for their second year at our tasting alongside stalwart Fincas de Azabache. Our new Galician producer Noelia Bebelia showcased their delicious Albarino.

We had plenty of sparkle this year, with Champagne A R Lenoble and their fantastic new Mag 14 cuvees as well as Champagne Lombard plus a new vintage Cava from Mont Marcal and of course, our lovely English sparkling wines from Bluebell Vineyards in Sussex.

The wines were well received by our 528 guests who attended. We would like to thank you for coming and to all of you who couldn’t make it we hope to see you next time.

After a busy two days, and many pairs of sore feet, we headed to the pub to celebrate another fantastic event!
