Ellis Wines will be auctioning a 9l bottle of Château d’Esclans ‘Whispering Angel’ to raise money for The Benevolent.

The oversized bottle, often referred to as a Salmanazar, will be displayed at the London Wine Fair on our stand C60. If you are coming along, be sure to take part in our silent auction with the winning bid being donated to the wine trade charity ‘The Benevolent’.

The Benevolent is the trade charity that provides help and support to current and former employees of the drinks industry and their families. If your job involves alcohol drinks brands and you work in any sector of the trade you are eligible for support. 

The iconic ‘Whispering Angel’ is seen as a luxury brand but only a handful of 9l bottles are made making this a truly rare opportunity.

We will also be showcasing wines from suppliers across the winemaking world from Pisano in Uruguay to Geoff Merrill in South Australia via Laibach and DeWetshof in South Africa. The ‘old world’ will also be well represented by the likes of Fincas de Azabache, Cantina Gorgo and Lorgeril. An eclectic line-up includes grape varieties such as Marselan, Caladoc and Loureiro as well as English sparkling wines and a highland, hand foraged artisan gin.

The winner will be announced by the Friday 7th June 2019.
