Region

This region includes the southern Burgundian vineyards of Givry, Mercurey, Rully and Montagny which are all close to the town of Chalon just 30 minutes south of Beaune in the heart of Burgundy. Very rural and unspoilt these vineyards are planted with Chardonnay & Aligote for whites and Pinot Noir for reds. The soils are a mix of limestone, schist and clay, and when combined with a warmer climate than Burgundies from further North the wines have a fuller, riper character. These excellent wines generally offer attractive early drinking, that are often a great taste of `Classic Red & White Burgundy` at a fraction of the price to their more illustrious and famous neighbours.

Producer

The founder and owner of the winery, David Moret, began his involvement in the wine industry at a relatively early age. He pursued his studies in oenology and viticulture and after graduating, he wanted to set up his distinct vineyards as soon as possible. However, David’s dream got thwarted because he lacked a family domaine. Nevertheless, David continued his career and pursuit into winemaking by buying several grape varieties from other sources to vinify them. It allowed him to make several connections, friendships, and associations in the district of Côte de Beaune. It helped David later when he bought his first wine barrels in the late 90s and later when David Moret was established in 2000. Since the beginning, the winery has produced top-tier white wines in taste, quality, and standard.
Tasting Notes
Made from a specially selected parcel of vines located at the bottom of a slope on clay and limestone soils, this wine is a lovely pale gold in colour. The nose is fresh with aromas of grapefruit, lemon, apple and white flowers. On the palate, there are further fruity flavours of white peach and honeysuckle. A citrus acidity keeps this wine fresh and leads into a pleasant, fruity finish.
Food
Best served with bisque of crab or lobster roasted in spices.
