Region

Romania has a rich winemaking history which dates back for over 4000 years. In 2011 Romania was ranked as the 13th largest wine producing country in the world. Romania is home to many local grape varieties such as Feteasca, Zghihara de Husi, Cramposia de Dragasani and Galbena de Odobesti as well as some plantings in recent years of more western European grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

Producer

Situated in western Romania just to the east of the town of Timisoara, Cramele Recas is a very impressive new winery on an old site. In the last 10 years, both the vineyard and winery have been completely, and exhaustively modernised in order to be able to fully control the production process using the latest methods. The winery has been fully fitted out with stainless steel , automatic temperature controlled tanks for fermenting and storing the wine. The primary vinification facility has been completely renewed with the best possible equipment for gently crushing, destemming, pressing the grapes- in order to be able to maintain all the quality in the grapes. Contains Sulphites. Englishman, Philip Cox and his Romanian wife Elvira, have put in a huge amount of work into transforming their land into a modern winemaking haven.
Tasting Notes
Light, soft and welcoming nose of autumn fruits. Soft smooth & spicy flavours throughout with generous soft red fruit flavours & a lovely elegant finish.
