Region

The state of California is by far the most important producer of wine in the USA. Its grape growers succeed in many differing environments up and down the state from the fog influenced coastal valleys of Sonoma, Napa and Carneros, to the hot irrigated Central Valley and Monterey, Santa Barbera and Edna Valley on the Pacific coast and to Themecula on the Mexican boarder. California produces a range of varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah.

Producer

Sun Gate is the product of expert negociants who have selected, vinified and blended to create a consistent rose wine in perfect conditions. Zinfandel grapes, ideally suited to the Californian climate, are selected from across the vineyards of California’s Central Valley and are carefully vinified for a short time before removing the grape skins. Although Zinfandel is a red grape variety, the rose version is confusingly named White Zinfandel. Its success of White Zinfandel has been one of the wine phenomena of recent times.
Tasting Notes
A deep pink rose that offers an attractive bouquet redolent of summer fruits including strawberries, raspberries and watermelon. The palate is medium bodied with a hint of sweetness and flavours of red cherries, raspberries and strawberries and cream. The confected fruit flavours are balanced by a refreshing acidity and linger on a crisp finish. The wine is made with protective techniques to ensure the fresh character of fruit comes through.
Food
Delicious on its own, or with cold poached salmon, grilled chicken salad, barbecues.
