Region

The Languedoc is a vast region stretching across much of the south and Mediterranean with large volume of IGP wine within the distinct areas of l`Aude, Gard and Hérault and also well known appellations such as Minervois, Corbières, Pic Saint Loup and Fitou. It’s history dates back to the Greeks and Romans as well as monastaries in the Middle Ages. The Languedoc experiences Mediterranean climate with high levels of sunshine and warmth with low rainfall which are all favourable for grape growing. A wide range of grape varieties are grown including Syrah, Grenache and Carignan and the local variety piquepoul making a range of styles of red, white and rosé wines.

Since 1771 the Fabre family have been owners of Chateau Fabre in the village of Gasparet at the heart of the Corbieres region of the Languedoc. The vineyards occupy a succession of little hills with poor, stony soil, ideal for the regions important varietals of Carignan and Grenache.
Tasting Notes
Since 1771 the Fabre family have been owners of Château Fabre in the heart of the Corbières region of the Languedoc. This is an organic blend of Mourvedre and Carignan grown on clay-limestone soils and no sulphites are added during the winemaking. The grapes are handpicked and after selective sorting there is a short period of skin maceration and then carbonic maceration. Ageing takes place in concrete tanks for 8 months. The wine is richly concentrated with fragrances of wild herbs, red fruits and floral expressions on the nose. Intense flavours of dark berry fruits and woodland hints on the palate, backed by subtle spice and velvety ripe tannins.
