Region

If you have never tried an English wine before – well now is your opportunity. The vineyards of England are generally located in the warmer southern counties where the milder influences of the gulf stream have an important effect, as our northern hemisphere vineyards need a longer cooler growing season than in Europe to produce top quality grapes. More than 500 vineyards are in production across the UK and bottled annual sales has reached 3 million bottles, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus the most planted varieties.

Producer

Lyme Bay Winery is full of people who are passionate about producing English Wines. Founded 25 years ago in Devon they have produced wines of outstading quality that have won awards from prestigious competitions including the International Wine and Spirit Competition, the Decanter World Wine Awards and many more.
Tasting Notes
Lyme Bay’s Bacchus 2021 is made from 100% Bacchus grapes, arguably the flagship variety for English still wines. Lyme Bay carefully select and source their grapes from vineyards across the south of England. Thanks to influences of England’s cool maritime climate and long growing season, this Bacchus is remarkably fresh showing bright acidity. Following a cool fermentation this wine is gently racked and left on fine lees to improve structure. Intense aromas of elderflower with an abundance of citrus and blackcurrant leaf on the nose. A balanced delivery of citrus and minerality, with a rounded body and crisp finish. Best served lightly chilled.
