Producer
Businessman and winemaker Rene Rostaing has parcelled together almost 20 plots of vineyard in Cote Rotie with vineyard sites in La Landonne, La Vialliere and Cote Blonde, each possessing its own distinct characteristics. He has also mastered the neighouring appellation of Condrieu, produced from the rare and fragrant Viognier grape variety. In 1996 Rene purchased a small estate in the Languedoc. It`s 12ha of limestone garrigue are planted with red and white Rhone varieties, traditionally vinified with maticulous care from low yields.
Tasting Notes
A premium wine with an intense perfume of violets, cherries and lavender. The palate is full bodied and opulent with a smooth, velvety texture. A complex wine full of succulent black fruits such as cherries, berries and plums with mature notes of earth, game and tobacco. Grippy tannins and oak ageing added structure to the wine. The finish repeats the bramble fruit, violets and spice flavours which linger on the palate.
Food
Best served alongside roasted game such as pheasant, woodcock or guineafowl.
