Region

If you have never tried an English wine before – well now is your opportunity. The vineyards of England are generally located in the warmer southern counties where the milder influences of the gulf stream have an important effect, as our northern hemisphere vineyards need a longer cooler growing season than in Europe to produce top quality grapes. More than 500 vineyards are in production across the UK and bottled annual sales has reached 3 million bottles, with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Bacchus the most planted varieties.

Producer

a`Becketts is Wiltshire`s largest vineyard, established in 2001 by Paul and Lynn Langham. a`Becketts is comprised of over 11 acres of vineyards planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Auxerrois, Reichensteiner, Seyval Blanc and Pinot Noir.
Tasting Notes
Named after Captain Henry Penruddocke who lost his life at a’Beckett’s in 1644 at the height of the English Civil War. 100% Pinot Noir with 5 months of ageing in third fill French oak barrels. Bright cherry and bramble fruit on the nose, the palate is laden with red fruit, a soft round structure and a fresh acidity. 2018 was an excellent year for English wine.
Food
Can be served lightly chilled as an aperitif or with roast lamb or pork.
