Region

Côte d’Or stretches from Dijon in the north to Santenay in the south, via Beaune. The wines produced here are more complex, more expensive and more lasting than elsewhere in Burgundy. They come from famous villages such as Vosne Romanee, Pommard, Volnay, Meursault and Puligny Montrachet. The region is divided into two parts, Côte de Nuits to the north and Cote de Beaune to the south. The first produces almost exclusively red wines, the second both red and whites. Cote d’Or takes its name from the Orient; the vines face east to make the most of limited sunlight.

Producer

Vincent Girardin has firmly established himself as one of Burgundy`s pre-eminent wine producers. His 15 hectares of Domaine owned vineyard represent 25 different Burgundy appellations, all treated with the same meticulous attention. One of the leading modern winemakers, using appropriate enhancement of new oak whilst emphasising the unique character of each appellation.
Tasting Notes
A nose full of cherry and raspberry, with the typical earthy element of Cotes de Beaune. The palate is supple and well balanced with dominating red fruits and enticing smokey notes. Refreshing acidity and a web of fine, smooth tannins gives a core structure to this luxurious wine.
Food
This would pair well with game like venison or roast grouse. Or lighter poultry dishes.
