Region

The Marches region stretches east from Tuscany and Umbria to the Adriatic coast, from rolling hills to coastal plain, resulting in marked differences in climate. It is famed for producing Verdicchio wines of richness and great character, seldom found in other Italian white wines, as well as outstanding Montepulciano red wines.

Producer

Conti di Buscareto is a modern, progressive winery producing innovative wines whilst reviving traditional viticulture. Sleek contemporary packaging creates a striking image for perfumed Lacrima and clean, flavourful Verdicchio. Lacrima Nera (Black Tear) is a variety of red grapes typical of the area which encircles the town of Morro d`Alba. The name Lacrima comes from the red tears of juice that run from the fully ripened grapes.
Tasting Notes
Grown on the Adriatic coast of Italy in the province of Marches, this dry, full bodied estate wine is made from ripe Verdicchio grapes, harvested late to ensure richness and concentration. It is aromatic with notes of almonds, citrus and white flowers. The floral notes follow through on the palate A well balanced crisp white wine with a long finish and an amazing depth of flavour.
Food
Very good with sea food, white meat, cold meat appetizers, as well as rustic food. It combines well with local dishes, such as stuffed olives from the province of Ascoli `olive ascolane`, calcioni (a kind of cheese cake) and omelettes with spring greens.
