Region

In the northwest of Italy lies the unique low alpine region of Piedmont (or Piemonte), which means `at the foot of the mountains`. Weather influences come from the Apennine Mountains and the Alps The region includes the small and prestigious hillside wine towns of Barolo, Barbaresco, Asti and Gavi, where a diverse variety of well-known wine styles originate. Some of Italy`s most revered and expensive red wines come from the Nebbiolo grape, grown alongside Barbera, Dolcetto and for white wines Moscato and Cortese.

Producer

The Rivetto family has been established in the Piedmont region since 1902, and it remains very much a family concern to this day. The family are based in Lirano and own various vineyard sites between the rolling hills of Sinio and the historic town of Alba, which are planted with the noble Nebbiolo variety that make both classic and modern styles of Barolo. Enrico Rivetto, who is passionate about the environment has converted the land to follow biodynamic principles and the wines are now certified Demeter biodynamic as of the 2019 vintage.
Tasting Notes
Rivetto is a youthfully invigorated family house, converted from traditional to contemporary winemaking (barrique aging etc) in the last few years and starting to hit the reviewers` radar. This special selection of the estate`s best Barbera has the `wow!` factor, very ripe, rounded, flattering with a subtle acidity. It is a premium selection of Barbera grapes from west facing hillside sites of Alba, matured in French Barrique. This wine has amazingly rich, sweet, plumy fruit, intense mouthfilling palate with a velvety texture and acidity softened by six months age in barrel.
Food
A great partner to slow cooked red meat dishes, roasted venison or boar and strong cheeses.
