Named after the indiginous Chono tribe, who were described by Darwin as ‘one of the bravest native tribes’, they were well known for having a passion for life and for nature. This passion was the inspiration behind Chono which is a project designed to showcase wines expressive of the region where they thrive the best. Created by Alvaro Espinoza in 2004, Chono wines are carefully selected, single vineyard varietals from some unique terroirs in Chile with the aim of producing wines which focus on quality over quantity.
Tasting Notes
A golden yellow colour, highly aromatic wine with strong notes of citrus fruits and flowers together with subtle yet pleasant touches of fresh grass and ripe pineapples. On the palate, it is fresh with apple, citrus lime and tropical fruit flavours. Forty percent of the wine was aged in French oak for 6 months which gives it a fuller mouth feel and a long and pleasant finish.
Food
Best served with grilled fish, white meat or chicken dishes.
