Region

Romania has a rich winemaking history which dates back for over 4000 years. In 2011 Romania was ranked as the 13th largest wine producing country in the world. Romania is home to many local grape varieties such as Feteasca, Zghihara de Husi, Cramposia de Dragasani and Galbena de Odobesti as well as some plantings in recent years of more western European grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

Producer

Situated in the heart of the Dealu Mare viticulture region just below the Transylvanian Alps and surrounded by the Buzau river valley in the west and the Teleajan valley in the east. Da Vino are committed to creating blends which are expressive of the region using indigenous grape varieties and creating blends with personality.
Tasting Notes
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with Feteascå Neagrå, also known as `Black Maiden` which is one of Romania`s oldest black grape varieties. The nose is intense and full of blackcurrant aromas with notes of coffee and pepper. Dark cherries, plums and chocolate in the mouth with undertones of spice and vanilla from six months ageing in Romanian oak barrels. Supple tannins and a good structure lead to a long and persistent finish.
Food
Serve with stuffed beef or Mititei (Romanian minced meat rolls)
