Region

Dão is one of the oldest established wine regions of Portugal, located just south of the famous Douro Valley. The mountainous region is home to Touriga Nacional, the principle variety of port wine. The region takes its name from the Dão river, a tributary of the larger Mondego river. The majority of the region`s vineyards are located alongside the Dão river. Known for its fresh wines with powerful fruit, with elegant structure and body that can be enjoyed in youth and yet have an excellent potential for ageing.

Producer

The Amorim family have been involved in wine since 1870, when they first negotiated sales of cork to the Caves de Vinho do Porto, in Vila Nova de Gaia. Today they are one of the most renowned cork producers whose corks are used worldwide. Since 1999, the fourth generation of the family became involved in wine. Luisa Amorim started working in renowned Quintas , first at Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo and now in the Dão, at the Taboadella estate, creating wines of extraordinary quality with a sense of place.
Tasting Notes
Made from a blend of Portuguese varietals; the fresh and zesty Encruzado grape combines with the delicate floral aromas of Bical and the steely austerity of Cercial to create a well balanced and complex white.
Food
Serve with pan-fried monkfish, salt cod fritters or fish based tapas.
