Situated in the department of Hérault between Montpellier and Bezieres, the Cave Cooperative Artisanale de Montpeyroux was founded in 1950 and were one of the last coops to be built in the region (following the cooperative boom of 1910-1929). Montpeyroux, lies halfway between the ruins of the 11th century fortress the Castellas and the Saint-Martin du Barry chapel which gives CastelBarry its name. The Cave cooperative of CastelBarry focusses on producing great wines from an exceptional terroir.
Tasting Notes
Terrasses du Larzac is a sub-appellation of the Languedoc appellation of southern France, renowned as a source of high-quality wines. Extremely popular in the south of France, particularly on the wine lists of bars and restaurants in Montpellier. Made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan this Terrasses du Larzac is a rich wine with notes of ripe black fruits, mocha and a spicy note of white pepper. Lots of concentration and well structured with chewy tannins and a very long finish.
Food
Serve with rich roasted meats such as beef and lamb or winter stews and casseroles.
