Château Coutet is one of the largest Barsac properties and has been owned by the Baly family since 1977. Coutet is located in the south of the appellation and the 35 hectares of vineyards are planted with Sémillon (75%), Sauvignon Blanc (23%) and Muscadelle (2%).
Tasting Notes
2005 was an excellent year for Barsac and Sauternes. A hot, dry summer was followed by rain in September which resulted in foggy mornings and sunny afternoons; the perfect conditions for botrytis. Ch Coutet 2005 is a beautiful golden colour with a generous nose of ripe apricots, honey, orange zest and blossom. These aromas continue on the palate with the sweet fruit perfectly balanced by a refreshing acidity.
Food
Perfect with fruit desserts or blue cheese.
