Region

A vast and important fruit-producing region on the Murray River in South Australia at the border with Victoria. This irrigated region produces many different varietals in relatively warm conditions and supplies much of the competitively priced, full-flavoured Aussie bulk wine.

Producer

The De Bortoli family own vineyards in four very diverse premium wine growing regions, working to create interesting regional style wines. Most famous of all the company`s wines is Noble One, created by Darren De Bortoli in 1982, who was a fan of Sauternes and recognised the potential to make a dessert wine from `botrytis` affected grapes from Riverina, where the family are based.
Tasting Notes
One of Australia’s great sweet wines. Made from late harvested Semillon grapes which have been affected by `botrytis`, a type of rot which concentrates the sugars in the grapes. The wine displays typical flavours of apricot and soft marmalade flavours combined with citrus and hints of vanillin oak. A long and luscious finish is enhanced by refreshing acidity and beautifully integrated oak.
Food
Desserts that are no too sweet, such as cheesecake, almond tart or dried fruits.
