Albariño ‘Genio y Figura’, Attis 2017

 

Region

The Galicia region sits on Spain’s estuary ridden north west Atlantic coast. This wet coastal region is where the fashionable Albariño grape variety thrives on the granite soils.

 

Producer

Founded in 2000 by Robustiano Farina who runs the estate with his sons Robustiano Jr. and Baldomero. Attis is a modern winery with a focus on spontaneous fermentation, ageing on the lees and low use of sulphur.

 

Tasting Note

This fantastic Albariño is a straw yellow in colour with a pronounced peachy nose. The palate is bursting full of ripe fruit flavours of apples, peach and nectarine with a fresh, citrus acidity and a subtle mineral character on the finish.

 

Food Match

Pair with fish tapas, stuffed sardines or prawn stir fry.

 

Albariño Noelia Bebelia 2016

Region

Producer

Husband and wife team Simon and Noelia established Noelia Bebelia in order to create wines which are a true expression of the terroir. They planted 6000 albarino vines on a 7 acre estate on the mountainside of the Verdugo river. Simon was an Industrial Engineer by trade and uses a scientific `hightech vigneron` approach in the vineyard; they analyse each individual vines` needs and have a great deal of precision and control over the processes used in order to create the `perfect` vineyard.

 

Tasting Note

This is a high quality Albarino where the care and attention to detail in the vineyard and winery is evident in the final wine. Pale lemon in colour with notes of white flowers and lemon zest on the nose. The palate is crisp, fresh and bursting with fruit; white peach, apple, melon, pear, grapefruit, lime zest and blossom with a very long finish and refreshing acidity.

 

Food Match

The fresh acidity makes this wine a perfect accompaniment to grilled fish and shellfish, especially cold Atlantic prawns, crab or lobster and with Asian cuisine.
